Very few poker rooms have made the headlines as much as Full Tilt Poker in the past few years. Of course, this has not always been for positive reasons. In 2012, Full Tilt returned to the Rest of the World market backed by The Rational Group, who also operate Pokerstars. The original home of RUSH Poker, the FTOPS series and Matrix Poker is back! Here we review the new Full Tilt Poker:

Full Tilt Poker Review - Overall 8 out of 10

Although many of the Full Tilt promotions have changed since Black Friday, the takeover by Pokerstars has added a new sense of respectability to one of the original giants of online poker. As Pokerstars were cleared of wrongdoing by the DOJ in their management of player deposits, Full Tiltplayers can enjoy a renewed feeling of security. Full Tilt players can also enjoy the generous Edge Rewards scheme, which gives cash bonuses for those who accrue high levels of Full Tilt Points on a consistent basis.

With high quality software, Full Tilt Poker ranks highly for reliability and excellent design. Full Tilt is widely credited with many innovations in online poker, including the original Rush Poker and Matrix Poker features. Rush poker allows for online grinders to 'quick fold' their way through many more hands than would be possible on standard tables, hence increasing the win rate of successful players. Meanwhile, Matrix Poker allows Sit and Go players to play four simultaneous SNGs against the same group of players. This is an excellent arena for players on short bankrolls looking to reduce bankrolls and enhance their multi-tabling skills.
Navigation is particularly easy in the Full Tilt Poker lobby. Clear buttons are laid out to select either Ring Games, Tournaments, SNGs or Rush Poker. Further options can be clicked to select your preferred game type - with a vast choice between Hold 'Em (Fixed Limit, Pot Limit and No Limit), Omaha, Stud, HORSE, Courchevel, Irish, Razz and more. Further filtering can be enabled to select your favoured stake or buy-in level.

As a very well-publicised and long-established poker room, Full Tilt has a healthy distribution of strong and weak players at the lower levels. Something worth noting for mixed game specialists is that Full Tilt promote a variety of games via their 'Game of the Week' promotion. Players can gain discounted tournament tickets and earn double Full Tilt points by playing in the Game of the Week, meaning that there are often inexperienced players at the mixed game tables. Omaha, Stud and HORSE sharks: this is the place for you!

Player Rewards – Edge Rewards and Black Card – 10 out of 10

The famous Edge Rewards program gives weekly cash payments to players who earn enough Full Tilt Points on a weekly basis. There are several levels of Edge, with higher rewards paid as you ascend them. At the highest point, you become eligible for Black Card status, which pays a the most favourable rate and has a huge amount of VIP benefits. There are many other promotions offered to make sure you make the most of your FTP points.

- Happy Hour - double points earned during the slowest hour of site traffic
- Game of the Week - playing the weekly featured game earns double points

Tournaments - 8 out of 10

Although there was some opposition to Full Tilt's decision to scrap some of their famous tournaments from the pre Black Friday era, they have reinforced the schedule with many new games. There are many guaranteed regular tournaments at every buy-in level. For the high rollers, Full Tilt offer:
- $350,000 Guarantee
- Big Little Tournament - $50,000 guaranteed for only $2 buy-in
- BIG MONEY SUNDAY - $1,000,000 in guarantees every Sunday
- Double Deuce - $22 tournament with over $100,000 guaranteed

Training - 5 out of 10

Full Tilt Poker have taken the step of introducing skill segregation in 'New to the Game' tournaments and ring games. Players who have played a small amount of each type of game are eligible to play other players meeting these criteria in separate games. Moreover, Full Tilt Poker shows commitment to teaching beginners with some basic strategy guides on their external website. Unfortunately, the vast Full Tilt Academy has been removed due to many of the videos featuring former pros or shamed members of the old Team Full Tilt.

Traffic – 7 out of 10

The player opinions on traffic vary depending on what sort of player you ask. The most popular ring games retain a healthy population of tournament and cash game players, but other corners of the site suffer from low traffic. Non hold-em games, matrix SNGs and mid stakes cash games are particularly affected. Meanwhile, several of the low buy-in daily tournaments regularly fail to meet their guarantees.

Deposits/Withdrawals – 9 out of 10

The major deposit and withdrawal methods are available. Full Tilt allows deposits and withdrawals by VISA, Mastercard, NETELLER, uKash, Skrill, paysafecard, entropay and Local Bank Transfer. This is a healthy array of options. Withdrawals by Local Bank Transfer usually take 3 days to be credited.

Do Full tilt Poker run a loyalty scheme?

Rewards

How does The Edge work?

Collect Full Tilt Points (FTP’s) as you play, climb the statuses and get rewards.

How do the different statuses work?

There are five statuses. Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond.

How do I reach each status?

Where you are placed in the status ladder depends on your rolling FTP average count, based on 7 days play, 30 days play or 100 days play.

  • Bronze – 7 days 10 FTP rolling average
  • Silver – 7 days 50 FTP rolling average or 30 days 35 FTP rolling average or 100 day 25 FTP rolling average
  • Gold – 7 days 100 FTP rolling average or 30 days 75 FTP rolling average or 100 day 50 FTP rolling average
  • Platinum – 30 days 150 FTP rolling average or 100 days 100 FTP rolling average
  • Diamond – 30 days 350 FTP rolling average or 100 day 250 FTP rolling average

How do I keep my status?

You need to maintain any of the valid rolling points averages, you will lose your Edge if you can’t reach Bronze status.

How do I earn my FTP’s?

Tournaments – For every dollar paid in Scheduled Tournament or Sit & Go fees, you’ll receive 10 Full Tilt Points, there is no upper limit.

Ring Games – For each dollar raked from the pot in a real-money ring game, 10 Full Tilt Points will be awarded. Not as simple as Tournament points system because the rake is capped. These points are divided amongst the players at the table, based on their proportional contribution to the rake. If the game earned them $10 they would pay out 100 points, if your share of the rake was $2.50 you’d get 25% of the points (25points). Fractional points are awarded.

What else are these points used for?

So, as well as determining your status, your FTP count is used for Weekly Cash Payments and you can spend your FTP’s on Tournament tickets, Ring Game Tickets or in the Full Tilt Store.

Weekly Cash Payments sounds great – how does this work?

Depending on your status you get payments each and every week, for each full chunk of 100 FTP’s you earn you get cash into your account. If you change status during the week your points may generate different amounts of cash.

Rewards
  • Silver Level – 100 FTP’s gets you $1
  • Gold Level – 100 FTP’s gets you $1.50
  • Platinum Level – 100 FTP’s gets you $2
  • Diamond Level – 100 FTP’s gets you $2.50

As if by magic you still own these points, you can trade them in for Tournament tickets, Ring Game Tickets or in the Full Tilt Store.

Full Tilt Rewards Login

Yes! They offer daily Happy Hours when you earn more points than normal, up to three times the normal rate – look out for the lemon slice icon in the game lobby to see which are the qualifying Happy Hour tables. You’ll find the Lemon Slices on the far right of the game information. Please note that although you can use any extra points earned for Tournament Tickets, Ring Game Tickets or at the Full Tilt Store the extra points don’t get counted for clearing bonuses or the Edge rewards program so your status level and the weekly cash payment amount stay as if you were not on a Happy Hour table.
